Pastor Willy's Blog - Complete Post
Happy New Year! I pray you’ve had a blessed holiday season and are as ready as I am to tackle a New Year with all the challenges and opportunities it brings. The poet Louise Fletcher Tarkington wrote:
I wish there were some wonderful place
Called the Land of Beginning Again
Where all our mistakes and all our heartaches
And all our selfish griefs
Could be cast like a shabby old coat at the door
And never put on again.
With God there is always a place of beginning again. His mercies are new every morning and He is already here, in your New Year, waiting to forgive, waiting to guide and waiting to bless. Let’s journey together to the land of beginning again and begin this New Year putting first things first.
First Things First…is the title of a series of 3 special messages I’ll begin teaching next weekend (January 8th). This series will help you get your priorities straight, put first things first and start the New Year right.
On we will have a special Baptism Sunday in all of our services. Baptism is the ultimate picture of beginning again and if you haven’t been baptized as a symbol of trusting Christ, I pray you will join us that day for a life-changing step.
Speaking of new starts, we have two new members of our pastoral staff team starting this month at Calvary. Join me in welcoming Dr. Jeremy Westbrook , his wife Jennifer and their three children. Jeremy joins us after serving most recently as the Pastor of Living Hope Church in Marysville, Ohio. Dr. Westbrook will be joining our pastoral team in an executive leadership role as Executive Pastor of Missions/Multiplication and will be overseeing strategies and programming directly related to our X150 vision. Specifically, Jeremy will oversee our Missions Department, our campus pastors, and our church planting efforts.
Also, we welcome Ally Eppl who will be joining our team from the First Baptist Church in Orlando. Ally will be serving as the Director of Children's Ministries.
A New Year is a perfect time to get connected and our “Connection Week” - is the perfect opportunity to do it. During that week we will host multiple connection events on both campuses to provide you an opportunity to meet other people who have been attending Calvary recently in order to form a community group. Each connection event features food, fellowship, and an opportunity to meet and connect with others. Check out more information at www.Calvary.us/GroupConnect
Our Discover Calvary seminar will be held on at our Clearwater campus and provides the opportunity to learn about what makes Calvary a family. This2-hour seminar explains who we are, what we are doing and how you can be part of it all. Register for the seminar online at www.Calvary.us/DiscoverCalvary
Let me be one of the first to welcome you to 2017. I pray it will be a year where you grow in your relationship with God and flourish as part of our community of faith at Calvary. From our family to yours, Happy New Year!
