I’m calling out to all teachers as I’m convinced God is working at Calvary and leading us to a new emphasis on discipleship and spiritual growth, and the role of teacher is an indispensable part. I am also now convinced we have unwittingly devalued the role and importance of teaching over the last few years and I want you to help me correct that.

I would like to meet with all Bible teachers of adults at our Clearwater campus on Wednesday, June 20th from 6:30 to 8:00 in our Choir Room.

You may be confused as to whether you are included in this group and should attend. That confusion illustrates the greater problem I hope we can correct together. So let me say it in one sentence and then if you still have questions see my more detailed explanation in the bullets below.

If you believe God has gifted and called you to teach the Bible to adults, and you have a desire to help adults learn God’s word and grow in their faith then, irrespective of whatever position you may or may not hold, I’d like you to meet with me on June 20th.

    To clarify:

    • This pertains to all three campuses, East Lake, Seminole and Clearwater. I’m calling all teachers of adults across all three campuses.
    • This pertains regardless of what position you may or may not hold at the present time. You may lead a “Community Group” or a “Life Class” or you’re not even sure what to call the group you lead, or you may not even lead one of those environments, if you feel called to teach, I’d like to meet with you.
    • I’m not asking you to sign up or commit to anything, just hear me out, then pray with me, and then we will work together to see how God may want to use you.
    • This applies to men and women.
    • This applies even if you are not presently a “member” at Calvary, as long as you feel like you are part of the Calvary community.
    • This is no guarantee or promise on our part that you are or will be a teacher at Calvary. I just want to talk with people who feel led in that direction.
    • You will be meeting directly with me. I will lead this meeting.
    • This does not pertain to those who may feel called to lead a group of some type through hosting or facilitating discussion but aren’t comfortable teaching. Hosting or facilitating a group discussion is an absolutely valid and important expression of leadership and service, but it isn’t what I’m looking for here. I’m looking for teachers, people who are drawn to teaching the Bible.
    • If in doubt, show up. Everyone is welcome and by the end of the meeting I hope you’ll have greater clarity about what we’re doing and where we’re headed. Even if it doesn’t end up applying to you, you’re still welcome and I’ll be grateful for your interest and attendance.
    • What about teaching students? Children? Hang on; we’ll get there. Our focus for this meeting is adult teachers.

With your help we can usher in a great new era of discipleship and teaching at Calvary. Will you meet with me on Wednesday June 20th at 6:30? If so, please RSVP to RSVP now .  If you have questions, email me here.
