“When you plant a biblical, missional, Gospel church that preaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ, you end up impacting everything that is important in the Kingdom of God. When a church is what a church ought to be . . . then orphans get adopted, widows get cared for, the sick are prayed over, the poor are served, the lost are evangelized, the saved are discipled, the children are educated, injustice is confronted, Christ is magnified! When a Gospel church is planted, the Kingdom of God grows!” -Dr. William Rice
The Tampa Bay area leads the State of Florida in number of children entering the foster care system. That means, every day in our community there are on average 9 children removed from their homes due to abuse, abandonment, or neglect. Some children are placed with family members, some neighbors, some foster families, while others end up sleeping in office buildings while authorities find an available home.
The hope found in the Gospel of Jesus can change the future of each of these children. And while not every Calvary member is called to welcome a child into their home, every member can be involved.
X150 Children provides opportunities for everyone at Calvary – regardless of age or stage of life – to impact the foster care system with the power of the Gospel through:
to advocate for the best interest of children in our community
50 CARE TEAMS
to support foster and adoptive familes
25 FOSTER FAMILIES
to demonstrate the love of God to children suffering from abuse and neglect
25 ADOPTIVE FAMILIES
to provide forever families for children without homes
Guardian ad Litems serve as volunteer advocates dedicated to looking out for the best interest of children in the foster care system. With just a few hours dedicated each month, you can make a life-long impact on a child.
Foster families with a support team are ten times more likely to make it past year one. Dropping off a meal, helping with a yard project, or faithfully praying can be a game-changer for a foster family. If you are looking for the perfect opportunity for your family or group to serve together, this is it!
There are around 3,200 children removed from their homes every year in Tampa Bay due to abuse, abandonment, or neglect. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a foster parent our team would love to talk about how you can take the next step.
There are over 100,000 children in the U.S. foster care system waiting to be adopted today. If you are interested in exploring domestic or international adoption, our team would love to discuss ways Calvary can walk alongside you on your journey.
Are you a foster, adoptive, or relative/non-relative caregiver family? We would love to get to know you better, pray with you, and connect you with a community and resources for the journey!
