WHO

John and Shea Antonucci met at Calvary when John started leading Calvary’s College & Young Adult ministry in 2018. Shea grew up at Calvary, has previously served on staff, and currently works as a content writer for a marketing company. John is currently an X150 resident at Calvary, and holds a Master of Divinity from Southern Seminary.

WHAT

In partnership with the Send Network of the North American Mission Board, Calvary is working to send John to plant a new church in Tampa in 2022–”The Church at Channelside.”

WHERE

In downtown Tampa, specifically targeting the Channelside neighborhoods in the 33602 zip code. Over the past decade, this area has gone from nearly empty to now having dozens of high rise communities and nearly 35,000 residents–and it is only continuing to grow. Developers have intentionally designed this area to be a walkable community with sporting events, concerts, restaurants, retail, grocery stores, and even an urgent care all within close proximity. You can literally walk to everything…except for a church. The people who live here are mostly young, successful, and work in influential jobs throughout Tampa Bay. Many of them are disconnected from Jesus & the Church.

WHEN

We will be looking to begin core team meetings and preview services as soon as January 2022, with hopes to launch weekly services by the Fall.
