Our nation is still reeling from the news and reports coming from the greater Houston area. Historic rainfalls have crippled America’s 4th largest city and the surrounding area. Iknow our Calvary family is joining me in praying for those who have suffered loss, as well as the heroic first responders. Pray also for the many churches and ministries who are serving those in need and have an extraordinary opportunity to demonstrate compassion. Many of you have asked how you can give and help. Check out our statement at calvary.us/harvey-update from earlier this week that will give you instructions about how to give and/or sign up to volunteer in the days and weeks to come.

It’s moments like this that reinforce the value of being a part of mission partnerships. Calvary cooperates through the Southern Baptist Convention and the Florida Baptist Convention. Both networks work together in disaster relief and the volunteers of Southern Baptist disaster relief form one of the largest such groups in the USA. Keep abreast of the progress at www.namb.net.

Life is a Battlefield! You probably know that already, but that is the title of our next message series starting September 10. Life is a battle, but God word helps us prepare, fight and win. This will be an important series and I hope you’ll be there next week as we kick it off. If you are in a battle right now, I believe this series will be a real encouragement to you.

That day we will also publicly launch our Seminole campus. You can help us get ready by volunteering to canvass the local neighborhoods with door hanger invitations on Saturday, September 2nd from 9:30am-12:00pm at the Seminole campus. You can also invite others to our newest campus. Visit calvary.us/invite to find ways to creatively invite your friends to Calvary.

Also, our Beach Baptism is scheduled for Sunday evening on September 10th. Regardless of what campus you attend, you can join us at Sand Key Park to celebrate believer’s baptism. If you want to sign up to be included or find out more information, you can go to calvary.us/beach-baptism.

Wednesday nights across all our campuses have resumed. Find out about the children and student ministries at all of our campuses on our website at calvary.us/kids and calvary.us/students. Several campuses have adult Community Groups that meet on Wednesdays and of course throughout the week. It is the perfect time to get connected. Find out more about groups at calvary.us/groups. I’m teaching an expositional Bible Study each Wednesday night at our Clearwater campus along with our friend Dr. Eric Bargerhuff in our choir room at 6:30pm. We’re teaching through First and Second Peter this fall and anyone is welcome to join us.

I hope you’ve had a chance to check out our newly redesigned website. It’s a helpful way to invite people to attend and find out all the information that keeps you up to date on what is happening at Calvary. Regardless of which campus you attend, you’ll find helpful information at www.calvary.us.
