Calvary Church continues to monitor the response in Texas to Hurricane Harvey with our partners the North American Mission Board (NAMB) Send Relief and Florida Baptist Disaster Relief. While some relief volunteers are already in place and serving, with flood waters from over 11 trillion gallons of rain continuing to rise, and efforts to rescue survivors still taking place, much of the relief work will not begin until the middle of next week at the earliest. We are asking our entire church family to help respond to the horrific destruction our friends in Texas are currently facing — which is being called one of the largest national disasters in U.S. history.

First and foremost we are asking every member to PRAY. Pray for the victims who are suffering, for first responders, and for churches and ministries on the front lines with opportunities to show God’s love and compassion. We are also asking every member to GIVE and even for some to GO.

Donations to NAMB Send Relief and Florida Baptist Disaster Relief, together one of the largest disaster relief agencies in the United States, can be made by visiting calvary.us/local and clicking on Disaster Relief. You can also give directly by visiting www.namb.net or by texting SENDRELIEF to 41444. You can have confidence that every penny will be used for disaster relief efforts related to Hurricane Harvey. You can also keep up to date with Southern Baptists relief efforts at www.namb.net.

Individuals and groups interested in traveling to Texas and volunteering with feeding units and clean-up work can visit calvary.us/local to sign-up. Our staff will keep you up to date with volunteer opportunities through Florida Baptist Disaster Relief network in the days and weeks ahead. May Christ’s name be glorified by the response of His church to those in desperate need.
